Zildjian A cymbals can be grouped into four main cymbal stamp types. Other cymbal experts give more detailed information about transitional stamps and varieties of stamps between these cymbal type categories. For our sake and not to try and compete with that information we are breaking this down in to Type 1, Type 2, Type 3 and Type 4 Zildjian A cymbals.

Type 1: 1928 - Early 1940's

Type 2: Early 1940's to Early 1950's

Type 3: Mid 50's

Type 4: Late 50's to early 1960's

It is also well known that in the early 1960's they stopped hand hammering the cymbals and you will see a different appearence to those cymbals. The Mid 1950's stamp is also duplicated in the 70's, but the stamp is not as heavy and the cymbal is not hand hammered so do not be confused by that stamp. It is also important to note that in the late 70's and early 80's Zildjian started using the black printing on the cymbal along with a stamp.

Type 2: Early 1940's to Early 1950's
This stamp can identified as having a deeper mark on the "Z" and the "Co" in relationship to the rest of the stamp

Type 3: Mid 50's
The type 3 stamp has large block letters for the word "Zildjian Co"
23 1/2 Ride Cymbal
